  • My April 2025 Blog, Finding Meaning in Abstract Art, is now available through the link in profile: Here is the email update. A lot is happening in St. Petersburg’s Warehouse Arts District!  Sixstar Art Studios will be open 6-9 pm Friday April 11, with lots of new work on display; and again the next night for regular Second Saturday Art Walk. Come by, say hi, enjoy some light snacks, and tell us what you think about the art. (2430 Terminal Dr S Unit B, St. Petersburg, FL 33712.) MAZE, a beautiful and complex journey I am part of an upcoming group show of work from gay artists.  The show, curated by Chad Mize, will open June 6 and be on display the month of June at FloridaRAMA Gallery, 2606 Fairfield Dr, St. Petersburg. June is Pride month for our community, worldwide and locally. Chad asked us to create work inspired by significant years and events in LGBTQ history; my own piece remembers the 1985 unveiling of the first memorial to homosexual victims of the Nazis. The pink triangle… recently in the news again when the President posted a picture of a crossed-out pink triangle on his social medial account… was what the gay and lesbian concentration camp victims were forced to wear on their prison clothes. (Jews wore the Star of David.) My piece will include historical German material from the 1930s and earlier decades. It will also include some historical material from the 1980s, when the AIDS crisis inspired use of the pink triangle as a symbol of hope and resilience for groups such as ActUp in the United States. And it will include the President’s recent social media post as well, bringing our historic repression and ongoing resilience to the present day. New Work! The past few weeks I created a large, new work in the swirling style of my early drawings.
